This happened in Stewartville, Minnesota.
A 24-year-old man told officers he’d heard a noise; when he investigated, he found a man inside the home. The resident — holding a handgun — confronted the man, who said, “oh, (expletive),” then ran out.
Officers found indications of forced entry into the home, said Capt. Scott Behrns, but nothing was taken.
No description of the suspect was available.

Guns are effective even if you don’t pull the trigger. Suppose you confront the burglar with a knife and he has a gun? Then you’re dead. But if you have a gun, you can shoot him the second he tries to pull out his gun.
