More people than ever are buying guns in Washington State, and gun hater David M. Rosenthal doesn’t like it:
In 2012, licensed firearm dealers in Washington conducted 519,209 background checks for gun sales — three times the number a decade earlier, according to a federal database.

Hospitals here admitted 122 people with “unintentional firearm” injuries that year, the latest for which data is available

The 2012 numbers show that the year’s carnage stretched far beyond the three incidents that captured widespread attention in three weeks that winter.

First of all, let’s assume 122 gun injuries came from law-abiding gun owners and not from criminals who didn’t go to a background check. That’s a 0.02% rate of injury! I wish activities like casual sex had that rate of injury! Even the pill women take is only 99% effective, which means you’re more likely to get pregnant than you are to get injured by your gun.
Rosenthal knows the numbers are not on his side, so he tries to play with our emotions:
On Feb. 22, an 8-year-old girl was critically wounded in a Bremerton classroom when a gun went off inside the backpack of a 9-year-old boy as he put it on a desk.
On March 10, a Marysville police officer’s 3-year-old son came upon a gun in the family van and fatally shot his 7-year-old sister.
And four days later, a 3-year-old boy grabbed a gun from under the driver’s seat of a car and shot and killed himself while his mother bought cookies inside a Tacoma gas station and her boyfriend pumped gas
I can play the same game, while most self-defense gun uses don’t get reported to the police (the gun isn’t shot, the criminal runs away), I’ve found this from the incident map at GunsSaveLives.net

That’s just a tiny sample, yet liberals like Rosenthal don’t care about those people. Let the senior citizens die, right? Let contractors get robbed, let women be raped, that’s what the gun-haters want. A world where we’re all equally in danger, except for the modern-day ubermenchen, the political class!
Our demands are reasonable, we don’t ask for a cop on every corner, we don’t ask for armed bodyguards, we just want to keep our guns and stop further restrictions on our rights!
