Today I gave $15 to the NRA

Nobody like telemarketers, but when the telemarketer from the NRA calls me, I welcome him, specially if he calls on Saturday and not during my work hours.

The friendly-man from West Virginia started reading a script about the UN Small Arms Ban, but I put a stop to that and asked him how much money he wanted.

He said $50 and he promised a tactical flashlight. I don’t really need one, so I offered $5. Then he asked if I wanted to give $10 to give a member f the military a free NRA membership. I said yes, of course, I love the troops. Barbara Streissand loves people who need people, I love people who kill people, specially bad people that want to kill us.

Giving money to the NRA is no sacrifice, but a support of my self-interest and rationally selfish needs. One person can’t save the 2nd Amendment, but millions of people giving $5, $10, $15 can.

As far as I’m concerned, the NRA can call me every month. I can afford $5 or $10, I already waste so much money on so much crap, some of which I don’t even need. But when I give the NRA my money, it feels good. If I didn’t live in Florida I might even get that leather jacket with the NRA logo.

Well folks, I’m off to the gun range. I haven’t shot in a while and even though Watch Dogs is fun, shooting real guns is better. I go knowing full well that if it wasn’t for the NRA, there would be no gun range, and no place where you can rent an NFA firearm.

Enjoy your Saturday!
