Lyn Roos doesn’t want guns in her house

I like the opening line in her letter to the editor, but then it falls hard and fast.

We do not need the government to pass a gun control law. We who are the household providers need to stand up to our own families and say “no guns in my household.”

Usually people bring guns into the household for the family protection against intruders but how often is it our own family are the ones to use the gun out of anger or mistake?

If you have a person in the family unit (sometimes a teenager) who we are concerned about– get the guns out of the house.

Especially if you are afraid of this person. Stand up with courage and take the guns out against their will. Not for our sakes but others.

This is the only way that we can stop the madness without getting the government involved.

Parents need to take control of their own household.

So housewives are known as “household providers” nowadays? Or maybe Lyn has a job while her husband drinks beer all day? She has a point, if it’s her house she can control what happens there, although I don’t think she’ll be able to tell the rapist and the robber, “please don’t hurt me” and be taken seriously.

But you know what? I’m glad Roos doesn’t want the government involved, it’s nice to see a liberal that can take responsibility for herself instead of begging Uncle Sam to do something. So go ahead, Lyn, be an easy target if you want, the rest of us will continue to be armed and ready, and contrary to what you think, people rarely “use the gun out of anger or mistake.” We control the gun, the gun does not control us.
