The Dangers of Celebratory Gunfire.

Maybe Saudi Arabia isn’t so bad after all. LOL

As Christmas and New Years Approaches, it’s important to remember that bullets fired into the air can come back to earth at 200 fps or more according to the CDC. It’s considerably less than the 2,500 fps some bullets travel after being shot, but it can kill.

TAMPA — Diego Duran’s young life almost ended just after 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day 2012, when a bullet fell from the sky and hit him in the head as he watched fireworks with outside his family’s Ruskin home. Authorities blamed celebratory gunfire. The bullet that traced diagonally through Duran’s brain, leaving him comatose for days, had probably been fired into the sky miles away.

The Duran family tried to dispel that perception Friday with a press conference at Shooters World gun store and range. As gunshots popped at the indoor firing range behind her, Sandy Duran explained that gun lovers have nothing to fear from her charity and its message.

“We are not anti-gun,” said Duran, 40, a massage therapist. “We are pro-common sense … When you shoot in the air, the bullets don’t evaporate or disappear.”

I support you, Mr. Duran. Although I have to admit, shooting guns in the air is fun, but I wouldn’t want an innocent bystander to get hurt.

A Randian Christmas.

Remember when Atheists were respectful of other people? Ayn Rand would have never waged war against Christmas.

From the Ayn Rand Lexicon:

Christmas

¶[In answer to the question of whether it is appropriate for an atheist to celebrate Christmas:]

Yes, of course. A national holiday, in this country, cannot have an exclusively religious meaning. The secular meaning of the Christmas holiday is wider than the tenets of any particular religion: it is good will toward men—a frame of mind which is not the exclusive property (though it is supposed to be part, but is a largely unobserved part) of the Christian religion.

The charming aspect of Christmas is the fact that it expresses good will in a cheerful, happy, benevolent, non-sacrificial way. One says: “Merry Christmas”—not “Weep and Repent.” And the good will is expressed in a material, earthly form—by giving presents to one’s friends, or by sending them cards in token of remembrance . . . .

The best aspect of Christmas is the aspect usually decried by the mystics: the fact that Christmas has been commercialized. The gift-buying . . . stimulates an enormous outpouring of ingenuity in the creation of products devoted to a single purpose: to give men pleasure. And the street decorations put up by department stores and other institutions—the Christmas trees, the winking lights, the glittering colors—provide the city with a spectacular display, which only “commercial greed” could afford to give us. One would have to be terribly depressed to resist the wonderful gaiety of that spectacle.

Packing Heat without a Permit.

That’s how it should be in all 50 States.

Duck Dynasty Liberal Hypocrisy Meme

Maybe if the show was called Muslim Dynasty, they would still be on the air. As the governor of Louisiana puts it:

“Phil Robertson and his family are great citizens of the state of Louisiana. The politically correct crowd is tolerant of all viewpoints, except those they disagree with.” Jindal said in a statement. “I don’t agree with quite a bit of stuff I read in magazine interviews or see on TV. In fact, come to think of it, I find a good bit of it offensive. But I also acknowledge that this is a free country and everyone is entitled to express their views. In fact, I remember when TV networks believed in the First Amendment. It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.”

That’s what it is, folks, and frankly, I have defended Miley. I believe it’s the marketplace that should be the arbiter of what stays and what goes. If it’s a TV show, then it’s the viewers that matters, not the people who don’t watch the show.

If it’s music, same thing. If Miley faced the kind of boycott The Dixie Chicks caused when Natalie Maines attacked Bush in London, Miley would be gone.

Of course, that won’t happen because Rock and Pop tolerate unabashed sexuality, so you see? The audience has chosen Miley, she gets to stay.

The same logic should apply to Phil.

Miami Gun Buyback.

There are good things about Florida, but Miami is Obama-Loving Territory, which is why they do stupid things like this:

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In its continuing effort to reduce gun violence, the City of Miami Police Department is holding a gun buyback operation on Saturday but you won’t walk away empty-handed.

Anyone can drop off any firearm at the Jordan Grove Baptist Church, at 5946 NW 12th Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Those who drop off a gun will receive a gift certificate with no questions asked.

“It is necessary to try to remove as many illegal, unwanted, and unattended guns as possible from our streets to ensure our citizens’ safety,” stated Mayor Regalado and added,”We hope that the Holiday Gun Buy Back will be as successful as our previous gun buy backs.”

Three gun buyback operations held in 2012 yielded more than 200 guns including 2 AK-47s and an M-14.

“Regalo” means gift in Spanish, Regalado is the past tense of gift. This Mayor, a Cuban-American, should know better. We have to get rid of CRIMINALS, the guy who gets rewarded for an illegal gun is likely to get more in the future.

Besides, even gun grabbers know gun buybacks don’t work.

Washington CeaseFire’s Ralph Fascitelli to a member of Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn’s staff) that the city was so shy about revealing:

“I wish you guys would … have talked to us/CeaseFire about this before moving forward. The overwhelming research shows that buybacks generally don’t work well and are a waste of resources and are mocked by the NRA.

“We will be lucky to get a few thousand or more guns back,” Fascitelli cautioned, “many of which don’t work too well in a country where there are almost 2 million guns.” Fascitelli also reportedly criticized buyback supporters for doing “kneejerk standalone stuff.”

Shooting Straight with Chris Cheng.

Chris Cheng: Hope he drives as well as he shoots. :)

Chris Cheng is the Top Shot champ and professional shooter that defies stereotypes. He’s Asian, he’s young, and he’s gay. Yup, totally gay and totally on TV.

So far his career in the shooting world has been an exciting one. Since he won on the History Channel’s Top Shot season 4, he joined the Bass Pro Shop shooting team where he tours around the country making appearances at stores and participating in major shooting competitions.

Daniel Terrill: First off, gun culture is so broad — I mean within every group, any passion and any profession you can find a gun guy. And your coming out just verifies how diverse gun culture actually is. What pushed you to do it?

Chris Cheng: The existing diversity in our community is definitely what I believe is noteworthy. Acceptance and tolerance comes in not only the places you would expect it, but also in places you wouldn’t. The predominant stereotype in the mass media is that a gun owner is an uneducated, bigoted redneck. This is patently false, and so I hope to deliver that message to the gun community, and beyond.
Source: http://www.guns.com/2013/12/19/chris-cheng-interview/

Damn straight!  We’ve come in all flavors, from hairy Christian Phil Robinson to brown Asian to black Noir. Hey liberals, you wanted diversity? We’re a freaking GUN Pride Parade.

DTHow have gun owners reacted to your coming out?

CC: I’ve received a ton of support from my gun friends, gay friends and family. It’s been about 55 percent positive/supportive, 5 percent negative, and then 40 percent “so what, who cares?” The “so what” replies have actually been my favorite because it is a strong indicator that people think sexual orientation is irrelevant. I believe that the end of the LGBT equality road is a place where no one cares that people are gay. My coming out is hopefully a means to this end.

So why did he come out? Simple vanity? Desire for attention? Nope, he did it to promote the Second Amendment.

I had an interview with TMZ just now, and they asked me why didn’t I wait until something bad happened to me in the gun community, as a result of me being gay. I’m not going to wait for something bad to happen and take advantage of it. It’s too much of a parallel to anti-gun politicians who use mass shootings as a way to further their agenda. I want to come out on my own terms, instead of being a victim to a whisper campaign.

My goal is to leverage this coming out announcement to promote and protect the gun community, our values, and our way of life.

Welcome home, comrade.

Reddit Censors Global Warming Skeptics: Are gun rights next?

Sculpture of Gaia. A Roman interpretation of the Earth goddess, “Tellus.”

Reddit is known as a place for vigorous debate, yet the Cult of Climate Change has scored a victory.

“After some time interacting with the regular denier posters, it became clear that they could not or would not improve their demeanor,” Allen said. “As a scientist myself, it became clear to me that the contrarians were not capable of providing the science to support their ‘skepticism’ on climate change.”

As a result, about half a dozen content editors now practice “proactive moderation” on the science forum’s reported 4-million subscribers.

Meet “modern” Gaia. Is this what Al Gore wants us to worship? Some fat green woman pregnant with the earth?
