The professional gun hater who wrote an editorial at MySanAntonio.com deserves a Predictable Award.

Newsflash, lots of people aren’t allowed to have guns such as illegal aliens, felons, people that have been declared mentally insane by a court, etc. They are allowed to get knives, baseball bats, tire irons, gasoline, and other tools they can use to kill people, but so far liberals only fear guns.
The problem is that, too often, a person’s lack of trustworthiness is evident only after he killed innocents. And society should pay more attention to markers that indicate guns in wrong hands.
No, the problem is that liberals like you create gun-free zone to help crazy people get more bang from their gun. But when someone else has a gun, a mass shooting becomes a minor shooting and it doesn’t make the paper. The old newspaper mantra “if it bleeds, it leads” is false. Nowadays if it doesn’t bleed too much, it won’t lead.
Recently, President Obama, acting because Congress failed even in the wake of the Newtown shootings, again took matters into his own hands. He broadened the ability to deny firearms to people with mental illnesses.
He’s acting because he seems himself as a dictator who hates the American way of life. It’s not the role of der fuhrer to take matters into his own hands, there’s the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial, you’d think a “constitutional scholar” would understand the separation of powers, but in Obama’s America there’s only Barry, Barry and Barry.
Still, mental illness is a discernible marker that should have prevented gun purchases in some notorious recent cases. Among them are the 2011 shootings in Arizona by Jared Loughner. He killed six and wounded 13, including then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Another is the 2012 killing of 12 people by James Holmes in Aurora, Colo. Both shooters passed background checks despite histories of mental illness. It’s now clear they shouldn’t have been allowed anywhere near guns.
And there will always be criminals who pass background checks, who don’t show signs of insanity, thus all Obama has accomplished is that the people who need to see a shrink the most, won’t see him because they’re gonna be afraid of losing their guns.
These presidential actions are no substitute for broader gun control laws, including a ban on assault weapons. The time is over for knee-jerk reactions to reasonable gun controls citing slippery-slope fears.
Mass shooters haven’t used “assault weapons,” the latest school shooter used daddy’s shotguns, you know, the one Joe Biden wants you to buy. Yet the slippery-slope fears are real, this editorial proves it, why else would they want to ban tactical rifles? Step 1. Ban this Gun. Step 2. Ban that gun. Step 3. Ban all guns. Death by a thousand cuts is an old tactic that can be used by any group, no matter their cause. Yet at least the pro-gun side is honest, at least we’re real with our intentions while our enemies lie and deceive.
