Is it coincidence that Sonic’s ban of open carry has brought crime at least three times? I can’t prove it, and to be fair, concealed carry isn’t banned. However, when you tell law-abiding gun owners to take their business elsewhere, when you’re ammophobic, you’re sending a message to every bad guy in town: This is a Crime-Friendly Business.
Man robbed, shot outside Portsmouth restaurant
PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth police detectives are investigating an early morning robbery that left one person injured.
Emergency personnel responded to the incident at the Sonic Drive-in the 5700 block of Portsmouth Boulevard around 1:40 a.m., according to Det. Misty Holley.
When officers arrived on scene they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was then transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated. His injuries are believe to be non-life threatening.
According to detectives, several suspects entered the business and demanded cash. The victim complied with their demands and the suspects left the location with an undisclosed amount of money from the business and the victim’s wallet.
The victim then followed the suspects outside and was shot by one of the suspects before they fled in a getaway car.
The suspect vehicle is described as gray or silver Dodge mini-van with a Redskins sticker in the window.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Holley tells 13News Now somebody was robbed at the same location in April.

So let me make an appeal to the business community, I’m not going to ask you to join the NRA and defend the 2nd Amendment (unless you want to), but I will ask you to respect the laws of your State. It’s good for business, good for the bottom line, good to keep crime away.
