Here’s why you don’t keep your guns locked up but teach your kids how to use them. This story is from 2012.
PHOENIX (AP) – A 14-year-old boy shot and nearly killed an intruder who broke into his Phoenix home and pulled a gun on him while he was watching his three younger siblings, police said Saturday.
The teen and his siblings, ages 8, 10 and 12, were at home alone when a woman rang the doorbell Friday afternoon, Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said.
The teen didn’t open the door because he didn’t recognize the woman.
Soon after, the teen heard a loud bang on the door, rushed his siblings upstairs and got a handgun from his parent’s bedroom.
When he got to the top of the stairs, he saw a man break through the front door and point a gun at him.
The boy shot the 37-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition and underwent surgery. The man was upgraded to critical condition and is expected to survive and be booked into jail within the week on counts of aggravated assault and burglary, Holmes said.
…
“The police and indeed our community does not ever want to see a situation where a teenager of that age has to take a weapon to protect his family … but this young man did exactly what he should have done,” he said. “I’m not sure he gave full thought about what he had to do. He just acted.”

See? That’s what freedom looks like. 14-year-olds shooting burglars is a good thing. Way better than getting murdered, raped, kidnapped, beaten, and any number of things that can happen. Will the kid be traumatized for shooting the burglar? I doubt it. People are far more resilient than people give them credit.

I wonder what Sarah Brady and her cohorts think of this situation. Should he have retreated to the closet and watched what God only knows what would have happened next?
Jwtexas, the Sarah Brady’s of this world don’t really want to take your guns away because they think guns are dangerous to good people. They don’t care whether or not guns make you safer. They simply want to take your guns away from you because they know that you will use those guns to stop them from attaining the total power over you that they feel they are entitled to. A defenseless slave is much less frightening to his master! And they feel their entitlement demands that they do and say whatever is necessary to gain that total power including but not limited to lying through their teeth, allowing and even causing innocents to suffer rapes, theft and death and then exploiting those misfortunes! When you look at their actions and listen to what they say with those motivations and morals in mind all the things they say and do make perfect sense.
However, if you are unable to understand what I’m saying about their morals and motives then maybe you do need someone to make all your decisions for you. If that’s the case for anyone reading this then you should know that I am an imminently superior Master when compared to any Brady type simply because I’ll not lie to my slaves. I’ll tell them exactly why I don’t want them to have any weapons at all. That is if I deign to talk to them at all. Just give me all your weapons and I’ll give you the guidance and protection that you deserve. That’s no lie!
Just sayin.
It sounded like he was BROUGHT up the RIGHT way;
Knowing just what a gun can do, and being able to do that in case of just what happened;
His parents KNEW just what to do, when raising him;
Bravo for the young man; Gods will was seen;
“Will the kid be traumatized for shooting the burglar? I doubt it. People are far more resilient than people give them credit.”
Any mental trauma that he received from having stopped the evil that he was facing is nothing when compared to fact that both he and his siblings are alive and well because of his actions! The bravery of that young MAN and his family makes me proud not only to be an American but to also be a natural born Arizonan!
As the young man grows older, and he will precisely because of his bravery, training, knowledge and willingness to act and last but not least, his parents, (and when you get right down to it, his) right to keep and bear weapons, I hope that he learns not to stop until there is no need to haul the assailant to the hospital. Because the Injustice System will not be as decisive as he in stopping this evil malignancy masquerading as a human, which will only serve to needlessly place others and possibly even the young man and his family in harms way yet again.
