Did they have to register their garbage cans? Nope, but if you live in Oakland get ready for YEARLY gun licensing and registration or you will be arrested. Welcome to California, the land were criminal run wild and law-abiding people are scared.
I don’t know why this story was in the “News” section of the newspaper, it’s clearly an opinion piece:
“In a city where three more people died violently over the weekend, a city [Oakland, CA] with more than 4,000 armed robberies this year and more than 4,000 cases of gun-related crime last year, we need all the help state government can provide.

The bill would empower the City Council to approve and enact a local ordinance requiring gun owners to annually register and license all firearms with a city agency.
Bonta’s bill would create a special provision in the law to address an especially nasty problem with gun violence in Oakland that has gone on, largely unabated, for years.”

So let me get this straight, in a city full of criminals that get their guns despite all the CA gun ban laws, you’re going to harass the people that didn’t commit those 4,000 crimes even more?
Oakland, you have high crime rates for 2 reasons.
1. You make it harder for the good guys to get a gun.
2. You won’t let the cops fight hard.

As TheBlaze reported on the Zimmerman verdict riots, “The Oakland police dispatch office said about 100 people protested, with some in the crowd breaking windows on businesses and starting small fires in the streets. As the protest wound down with the crowd dispersing, the office said that as of 2 a.m. PDT it had no word of any arrests.”

Gee, no wonder there’s no law and order. 100 people riot and nobody gets arrested. Frankly, you’re City Council that passed this law are a bunch of COWARDS. You’re too scared of the Marxist protestors so you harass law-abiding people.
