New York’s Attorney General Schneiderman had a lot to say to the Police Benevolent Association, here’s what he said about “illegal guns.”
ON ILLEGAL GUNS
- “We sent undercover investigators into gun shows around the state,add comma and it didn’t matter what story they told the sellers – that their wives had gotten orders of protection against them, that the police had come and taken their guns away – they were still able to buy guns without a background check.”
- “We arrested the sellers, but then, instead of going on the attack and grandstanding, we sat down with the operators of six major gun shows and together drew up a set of Attorney General model protocols to close the gun show loophole in New York.”
- “Responsible gun owners are not the enemy. The only way to make this country safe from illegal guns is to end the poisonous rhetoric about gun ownership and instead get law enforcement and responsible gun owners working together. That’s being tough and smart, and that’s what we are doing.”

Only 0.7% of criminals purchased a gun at a gun show according to a Justice Department survey of 18,000 state and federal convicts, so why this worry about gun shows?

We can’t work together with you until you get our priorities straight. Enough with Background Check Fundamentalism, look at the numbers:
• 39.6% of criminals obtained a gun from a friend or family member
• 39.2% of criminals obtained a gun on the street or from an illegal source
• 0.7% of criminals purchased a gun at a gun show
• 1% of criminals purchased a gun at a flea market
• 3.8% of criminals purchased a gun from a pawn shop
• 8.3% of criminals actually bought their guns from retail outlets

If 78.8% of illegal guns can be blamed on gun stores or gun shows, why focus on that? That’s like owning a steakhouse and investing 80% of your time on the salad bar.
You’re right about us not being the enemy, we’re the ones that shoot the bad guys before you get there. We’re literally saving cops lives! Picking up a corpse is a lot easier than shooting up a crook.
You must understand that Protecting the citizens is NOT the priority of TPTB.
Disarming the population, collecting money from Bloomy, Soros and Tech Billionaires IS a priority. The rights of civilians are no longer protected and this Gun Friendly Tone sounds more like a justification for highly questionable stings which will be lauded in the Progressive Press
Ironic that beat cops tend to be 2nd Amendment-friendly but that these guys aren’t, like you said, they’re bought and paid for, the NRA could play the same game, except that they have ethics, Bloomy and Soros don’t.
There is no loophole. They arresting people for selling without conducting a background check. DUH!
And using entrapment to do it, which is unethical in most circumstances.
