One of the reasons I prefer to buy my guns at gun stores is because you never know who you’re meeting online:
Fuller says the victim, a 53-year-old man from Rockford, may have made several mistakes after he contacted the suspect on a website that sells guns. When the victim arrived to meet the suspect, he couldn’t find him, so he started to walk around. That’s when the suspect approached him from behind and robbed him of the handgun. The sheriff says sellers should collect as much information as possible about the person buy the gun. Sellers should not to share too much about themselves, and should choose a well-lit place to make the exchange.“I don’t mean an empty parking space some place, I mean a business parking lot, a police department’s parking lot, things like that,” Fuller says. The sheriff adds, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Some local gun shop owners also say they will help make a safe gun exchange, with background checks included.
Good advice.
