Let’s break down this article:
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – In the Old West, cowboys left their guns at the bar. Now it’s illegal to conceal and carry a gun at a bar, but a Kentucky state senator is proposing legislation that would allow patrons to pack heat while out to eat at restaurants that serve alcohol.

In the Old South, you could rape your slaves for fun. In ancient Rome, betting on gladiator fights was cool. In ancient Greece, getting sodomized as a teenager was the downside of learning a trade. So why start an article mentioning something bad about the old west? And how exactly do we know that’s even true? Did they have metal detectors? I doubt a busy bar would have had bouncers disarming every patron.
Senate Bill 60 is sponsored by State Senator John Schickel (R-Union/District 11). It would allow those with a concealed carry permits to have a gun on them while in a bar or establishment serving alcohol.
“It would permit concealed permit holders to carry firearms in restaurants which serve alcohol,” said Schickel, “as long as they aren’t drinking.”
This is good, and let’s remember that criminals who are drinking will continue to do what they like, which is why sober gun owners at the bar are a great thing to have.
“If this were to pass, you can’t smoke in a bar, but you can have a loaded weapon?” said Doug Schutte, owner of the Bards Town. “So smoking is more than dangerous than a loaded firearm? That doesn’t make sense. The Bards Town should be able to have a loaded pistol at a place that serves alcohol. And I have a concealed carry license and support gun rights, but this wouldn’t work.”
What a ridiculous analogy. A gun only smokes when you shoot it, and I’ve never heard of anyone dying from second-hand gun powder. It’s interesting how he said he supports gun rights, sort of like a slave owner saying he loves his slaves, or NAMBLA saying they love children. I’m surprised he has a concealed carry license and works in a place that serves alcohol, what is he afraid of? That his customers will shoot him for watering the drinks? Worry about the criminals, Doug.
Eddie Kupper, owner of Shenanigan’s Irish Grille, shared the same sentiment.
“I do not think you should be able to have a loaded pistol in a place that serves alcohol,” said Kupper.
I do not think you should be able to cover your body in tattoos, but it’s your body, not mine. By the same token, it’s MY LIFE that will be murdered if if I don’t have a gun to defend myself, so F. U. Kupper, your fears are not superior to my rights.
“Their constitutional right to defend themselves and bear arms is being restricted,” said Schickel, “and this corrects that.”
Senate Bill 60 is scheduled to be heard in the State Senate Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations Committee on Tuesday, January 28.
Schickel gets it, and I hope the licensing board gets it as well. It’s not guaranteed, even our Red States have loud liberals newspapers that make more noise than they deserve. That’s why Kentuckians need to speak up and be heard, our comrades need to be louder than the editorials and anti-gun cartoons, and let’s not forget to squeeze our RINO’s so they vote the right way.
Politicians are like children… babysit the bastards!
