I can’t believe this is happening in South Carolina:
CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Conway Police Department, Horry County Police Department, Horry County Sheriff’s Department and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are partnering to host a Gun Buyback program on March 29.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a Father’s Place located at 809 Wright Blvd. in Conway.
You can turn in an unloaded firearm anonymously, no questions asked, to receive a $100 gift card for long guns, $200 gift card for handguns, and a $300 gift card for assault rifles.
All firearms must be unloaded and transported in the trunk of a vehicle.
No firearm dealers or pawn shops are allowed to participate, and officers can limit the number of gift cards to individuals.

They know some of of us have turned their gun buybacks into gun shows, where our patriots pay better prices than the gun haters. So how dare they tell us we’re not allowed to participate? Do we not pay taxes? Do we not suffer licensing and red tape? Seems to me it’s time to call an ambulance chaser, I’m smelling a lawsuit.

Prices have gone up. Used to be about half that offered. NP. My stomping grounds. Will show up and offer CASH! Not a stupid gift card.
It doesn’t say private citizens can’t participate. If I lived in SC I’d be all over it.
I read it as dealers and pawn shops can not bring weapons to turn in for gift cards…but then again I read the 2nd as ‘ shall NOT infringe’…….imho
Or they mean that dealers and pawn shops are not welcome to buy out from under the police.
They still destroy turned in firearms here in SC.
However, most police departments will run the serial numbers through NCIC to check for stolen guns and attempt to return them to the owner.
Otherwise they get destroyed.
Unless someone like me buys a few first.
