Brilliant, only thing they’re missing is a shotgun shot at the end. But other than that, the copywriting is perfect, the art direction is fantastic, they really capture the essence of Duck Dynasty and Mossberg.
And let me tell you folks, it’s not easy coming up with commercials like that. Advertising is hell, a creative orgy where everyone fornicates with your ideas until you barely recognize them. You got Account Executives telling you what to do, Creative Directors with agendas, and sometimes many teams competing with each other, a real blood-fest. It’s not like that BS you see on Mad Men, not at all.
And if you’re dealing with celebrities, then get ready for the 9th Circle of Hell. Celebrities get paid a lot of money to appear in your commercials, and things have to be their way. Of course, I got a feeling that the Duck Dynasty people are more open minded than other people, but I wasn’t involved in the production of this so I cannot tell you.
So when great work like this gets done, you gotta praise it. It won’t win any advertising awards, the industry is dominated by Obama-loving liberals, but you know what? Advertising is not about awards, it’s about sales, and I have a feeling these spots are gonna sell Mossberg through the roof.
