Canadians love lecturing us about our gun laws, so here’s a little schadenfreude for you:

A gun-toting Canadian man was shot and wounded as he tried to enter the United States at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit Sunday.

The man stopped his car about 3 a.m. before approaching the inspection booth, exited his vehicle and started walking towards the primary inspection lanes waving a handgun, the Windsor Star reported.

U.S. border officials ordered the man to drop his weapon, when he didn’t officers fired at the man who fell to the ground.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.

According to the Star the man, who has had previous encounters with Canadian law enforcement, remains in custody.

The Star also reported that at 2:40 a.m. the man was seen with a gun in a McDonald’s parking lot in a Ford Explorer.

Windsor police ordered him to drop the weapon, which he then pointed at police.

The Star reported that the man told cops, “Why haven’t you shot me yet?”

The man got back into his vehicle and drove over a cirb and sidewalk to evade police.
