Cool New Pro-Gun Laws in Texas.

Like Colion Noir wrote, Texas may not have an open carry law (Tennessee does) but they do have some cool new laws.

SB 1907 prohibits public and private colleges and universities from banning the possession, transportation and storage of lawfully-owned firearms and ammunition in private motor vehicles by students and visitors with Concealed Handgun Licenses (CHLs).

SB 299 protects CHLs against charges of unlawful carry for the accidental display of a handgun.

SB 864 reduces the minimum number of required classroom training hours for an original CHL from 10-15 to 4-6 hours, making it far more convenient for license applicants to exercise their right to self-defense.

HB 48 streamlines the process for renewal of a CHL by eliminating the continuing education requirement and handgun proficiency demonstration.

I applaud Texas for passing these laws, but the fight is not over. Democrats want to turn Texas into a purple State, with Blue Yankees and illegal aliens moving in, it might happen. So gun owners in Texas need to be visible, active and outspoken.

No compromise! No surrender!

  1. I am thinking they will get open and campus carry bye at least next year. They just want it bad enough and their politicians know they will be crushed bye that if they choose to defy it.
