Folks, if you can afford a gun, you can afford a holster, here’s why:
A Spartanburg man who approached an apartment complex pool with a gun tucked inside his boxer shorts pleaded guilty to a weapons offense.
Tyler Scott Hawkins, 22, of 110 Southport Road, Apt. 44, pleaded guilty Monday to unlawful carrying of a pistol and agreed to forfeit a handgun. The prosecution dismissed an indecent exposure charge as part of the plea negotiation.
Hawkins received a one-year sentence, suspended to 12 months of probation. Hawkins also was ordered to receive an evaluation to determine if he needs substance abuse treatment, among other requirements.
A woman told police in June that she saw Hawkins stagger into the pool area of Park Place Apartments wearing boxers, socks and a polo shirt. A gun was concealed inside Hawkins’ boxers, causing his genitals to be exposed, the Herald-Journal previously reported.
A charge of criminal domestic violence is pending against Hawkins.
