Why is my best friend afraid of the AK-47?

Saddam Husein’s gold AK-47.

Now that I’m living in South Florida, I need a new place to go shooting, which is why I visited the Delray Shooting Center and noticed you can rent Class 3 Firearms.

Since ammo is expensive, I thought it would be smart for the two of us to share the same gun. David has shot before, mainly handguns, but now he tells me he doesn’t want to.

Is it because terrorists sometimes use the AK-47? By that logic he should be afraid of knives, in Iraq they like to cut heads off with them. Is he afraid of shooting himself? You can’t shoot yourself if you practice the rules of gun safety. Is it the noise? David didn’t specify.

How can a man that takes chances with escorts he meets on Backpage.com be afraid of one of the most popular tactical rifles out there? You’re taking a bigger chance when you visit an escort, the whore may be an undercover cop, it might be a sting operation, she might steal your money after coitus and even before, and even if you wear a condom, you can still catch herpes, after all, you’re not wearing a condom over your entire body.

With guns you can catch a great time, you can release stress, and you won’t be missing it the next day. The last time I shot with David he fired the rented handgun as slow as molasses, not a bad technique for someone learning how to shoot, but it’s the kind of hesitation that’s not gonna help him overcome his fear of weapons.

While I doubt David will become an NRA member, I think it’s important to take non-gun owners to the range, let them experience the 2nd Amendment, let them see guns in the real world vs. the TV and movie world.

P.S. You should have seen his face when I showed him the Beretta I keep in the car.

    • I remember that movie, of course, the main character was a violent guy and he was forced to watch violent films to the point that it caused him nausea. Aversion therapy is quite interesting, but it doesn’t always work. If you’re training a dog, offering rewards is better than punishment, then you’ll get the dog to work for rewards. With humans is similar, and evil liberal even wrote the book Nudge which is a non-consenting version of Pavlov. Example: you go to McDonalds and they give you carrot sticks instead of french fries unless you ask for the french fries.

My friend isn’t exactly anti-gun, he’s one of those centrists, all over the place politically. He’s never been a member of an anti-gun group or voted based on anti-gun views. It’s confusing because he’s shot guns before and said shooting relaxed him. Maybe after 2-years of not shooting he’s gotten scared.

  1. so you outed your friend david as a frequent patron of hookers.
then gunwire.com linked to your blog post

    • His real name isn’t David, I would never out my friends. Even if they tracked my IP they would never know who I was talking about. For the most part I try not to talk about myself or my friends, but an opportunity to create original content presented itself, and I took it.

I love THEgunwire.com and http://thegunfeed.com/, they’re always looking for interesting content and sometimes they find my content interesting.
