Vermont is becoming anti-gun

For many years Vermont has been an oddity in being a Blue State with pro-gun laws. In Vermont you don’t need a license to carry a concealed weapon, you don’t need a permit just to buy the gun like you do in gun-hating NY and CA, yet the hippies are becoming away of Vermont’s pro-gun laws and are beginning to destroy them.

BURLINGTON, Vt. —Burlington has passed three resolutions that if passed by the state Legislature would put restrictions on guns in the Queen City.

The Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs alleges Burlington city councilors tried to keep pro-gun advocates out of discussions about proposed gun regulations.

Ballot item No. 6 (domestic violence and guns) passed 5579-2066. Ballot item No. 7 (ban at liquor establishments) passed 5194-2517. Ballot item No. 8 (safe storage of firearms) passed 4351-2971.

Councilor Norm Blais, D-Ward 6, introduced a resolution to ban semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines last year. That turned into the three resolutions voted on Tuesday.

A state statute, commonly referred to as the Sportsmen’s Bill of Rights, limits a community’s reach on enacting laws restricting gun usage.

The Legislature must approve the charter change before it can become law.

Both of these regulations are trouble.

1. A scorned woman could lie about domestic violence and have her man’s guns confiscated out of spite

2. Turning a bar or club into a “gun-free zones” makes it a safe-shooting zone for criminals

3. Safe storage? A man’s home is his castle, I refuse to have the State telling me how to store my guns

The fact that our pro-gun friends were kept out of the debate is extremely troubling. This is not communist China! Here ANY SIDE that wishes to speak should get to have his say.

The reality is that Vermont has pro-gun laws and an extremely low crime rate. This is the argument gun owners need to make, if the system isn’t broken, why fix it?

Passing laws is often unnecessary, but passing them for the sake of “doing something” when nothing needs to be done is heinous.
