Tow Truck Drivers Need Guns

I would encourage all tow truck drivers to get a concealed carry license, or do open carry if your State allows. Here’s why:

FORT WORTH — A tow truck driver was shot in the early hours of New Year’s Day Wednesday as he attempted to assist three men who were stranded on South Freeway.

Fort Worth police spokesperson Sharron Neal said three intoxicated men were having car trouble in the 6800 block of the S. Freeway Service Road at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday and called the tow truck. When the driver arrived, he explained only one person could ride in the cab of the tow truck and the other two passengers could not sit in the vehicle as it was being towed.

That upset one of the men, who pulled out a gun and fired one shot at the tow truck as it drove away. The shot hit the driver.

While on the way to the location, officers saw two men walking northbound on the grass next to the service road and detained them for investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Shane Crowson, 26, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The tower driver was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.

The law is on your side, tow truck drivers. Unlike Truckers, you don’t have a sleeper in the cab so whatever federal law prohibit truck drivers from packing heat doesn’t apply to you.

Interesting Factoid: If you’re ever in Chattanooga, visit the International Towing & Recovery Museum. It has equipment from 1916 and beyond.
