A Tale of Two Ladies.

One lady had a gun, the other one didn’t. This story illustrates why everything liberals say about guns and gun owners is wrong:

“Vickie Rock, 50, was visiting the home of her boyfriend at the Grand Oaks Apartments in Riverview, FL when she heard screaming as well as glass breaking.

Rock ran to investigate the source of the commotion. She found a man, identified by media reports as Daniel S. Robertson, beating his girlfriend with a metal object.

Rock, who was carrying a concealed .45 caliber handgun, ordered the man to stop, which he did, but then he turned his attention to Rock.

Rock, then fearing for her safety once the man began attacking her, drew her weapon and opened fire, striking the suspect at least once.

When police arrived they found the suspect, Robertson, dead in the parking lot.

No charges are pending against Rock, who based on media accounts, acted in self defense.

Eyewitness account also confirm the self defense story.

Both women suffered minor injuries during the altercation.”

So what have we learned?

1. If you call 911, by the time they get there it might be too late.

2. It’s people who don’t mind their own business who makes a difference.

3. You don’t need to be a cop to fight crime.

Backup Gun Advice.

Sometimes having one gun is not enough. So how do you choose a backup gun?

GunSafetyBlog.com has some good advice:

“Decide on how you are going to carry it!

Each method has its pros and cons
Options are:
Off hand appendix inside the waistband
Ankle holster
Belly band holster
Pocket holster
I personally dislike small of the back carry since the draw is rather obvious and can be easily fouled.
The gun can also be easily exposed by bending down to pick up something.
Whatever method you decide on, PRACTICE IT!
Better yet, practice it dry under simulated stress.

Revolvers make ideal backup guns since they are often more concealable than the Glock 26, Glock 27, or other semi-automatic pistols
A Crimson Trace laser helps a lot for instinctual point shooting.
Smaller and lighter is better!

I recommend a .38 special or a even a .22 Magnum Revolver to save on weight and size.

I have really come to like the Ruger LCR and the Smith and Wesson J Frame revolvers.”

Rare Pro-Gun Story in USA Today.

Here’s why you don’t keep your guns locked up but teach your kids how to use them. This story is from 2012.

PHOENIX (AP) – A 14-year-old boy shot and nearly killed an intruder who broke into his Phoenix home and pulled a gun on him while he was watching his three younger siblings, police said Saturday.

The teen and his siblings, ages 8, 10 and 12, were at home alone when a woman rang the doorbell Friday afternoon, Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said.

The teen didn’t open the door because he didn’t recognize the woman.

Soon after, the teen heard a loud bang on the door, rushed his siblings upstairs and got a handgun from his parent’s bedroom.

When he got to the top of the stairs, he saw a man break through the front door and point a gun at him.

The boy shot the 37-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition and underwent surgery. The man was upgraded to critical condition and is expected to survive and be booked into jail within the week on counts of aggravated assault and burglary, Holmes said.

“The police and indeed our community does not ever want to see a situation where a teenager of that age has to take a weapon to protect his family … but this young man did exactly what he should have done,” he said. “I’m not sure he gave full thought about what he had to do. He just acted.”

See? That’s what freedom looks like. 14-year-olds shooting burglars is a good thing. Way better than getting murdered, raped, kidnapped, beaten, and any number of things that can happen. Will the kid be traumatized for shooting the burglar? I doubt it. People are far more resilient than people give them credit.

Armed Robbers in Scream Masks? No Big Deal.

“One of the men was wielding a rifle and wearing a Scream mask, while the other was carrying a blunt weapon, possible a crow bar, wrapped in a pillow case.

A member of the family who owns the store, refusing to be a victim, grabbed a 9mm handgun that was in the store and opened fire on the pair”

I’m proud this happened in Chattanooga. Guess the song was right, a country boy can survive.
