Stop and Frisk is what gun control gives you

A lot of liberal New Yorkers hate stop and frisk, they think stopping someone and frisking him to see if he had any illegal weapons is a violation of his constitutional rights, they have a point, except that in New York City the constitution isn’t exactly a first priority, or a second.

The National Review does point out that Stop and Frisk works:

The program is controversial because most of those who are stopped and frisked are black or Latino. That is less surprising than it may sound: Most New Yorkers are black or Latino. Critics of stop-and-frisk allege that the program is racially biased because blacks and Latinos are stopped and frisked at rates disproportionate to their share of the population. In fact, they constitute 87 percent of the stop-and-frisk targets. It is not surprising that blacks and Latinos are stopped and frisked at rates higher than would be expected if the program were being randomly administered across the entire population — because the program is not random. It is applied most robustly in high-crime areas, which tend to be disproportionately black and Latino. It is applied in response to specific information, such as witness testimony. Noting that, Mayor Bloomberg argued that the stop-and-frisk program might be stopping blacks and Latinos too infrequently: More than 90 percent of those being sought in New York City murder cases are described as being black or Latino.

In Tennessee we don’t need to stop and frisk because blacks and Latinos are allowed to keep and bear arms, so they can fight crime themselves or call the police. The fact that many of them don’t is a different matter.

In New York City the process takes 3-6 months, sometimes as long as 8 months, and the process is described as tedious and time consuming. The fees alone priced out the poor:

Fees – 2 US Postal Money Orders, made payable to New York City Police Department are required, one for $340 (for the application), and one for either $94.25 (electronic fingerprints) or $105.25 (ink fingerprints), depending on how you are being fingerprinted. These fees are non-refundable. The NYPD now accepts credit cards as well.

So how else can you fight crime in a city where they make it almost impossible for the good guys to get guns? The only way to fight crime then is by treating everyone like a criminal.  I’m surprised the New York City subway system isn’t using one of these yet:

So if you’re a liberal and you don’t like stop and frisk, guess what? You’re the reason stop and frisk exists in the first place.

You wanted government to protect you? Then that’s the protection you’re gonna get. It’s the same reason those who support the TSA deserved to be inconvenienced at the airport.
