Gun rights supporters are questioning Republican gubernatorial candidate Allan Fung, as WPRO’s John Loughlin discovers records of then-councilman Fung authoring and supporting a resolution asking Cranston gun shops not to sell assault weapons in 2004.

“I was very disappointed when I read that,” said Ed Doyle, founder of the Rhode Island branch of the Guns Rights Across America. He said he was shocked by the news.

In a statement, Fung confirmed the 2004 vote and suggested his support of guns rights has evolved since those City Council votes.

“At the time of the non-binding resolution, I had never used a firearm and was unfamiliar with the differences among specific firearms,” wrote Fung. He said his position changed after spending time with friends at firing ranges and learning the real issue is keeping guns from the hands of criminals.

A spokesman for Fung’s Republican rival Ken Block did not criticize the Cranston Mayor, saying Block supports Rhode Island gun laws and his campaign is focused on the economy.

People can change, the question is, has he changed?  And why is Block not criticizing Fung over this? Jesus Christ, all these RINO’s want to focus on the economy, guess what? The 2nd Amendment is part of the economy! Selling guns is good for business, shooting crooks is also good for business.

Ken Block needs to realize RINO’s aren’t the only ones that vote.
