LETTER: SAFE hasn’t stopped gun violence

Canandaigua, N.Y.

I have a NYS pistol license. Wouldn’t it be redundant to have to get a further background check, pay $10, to buy ammunition?

It appears that downstate Democrats don’t trust us upstaters. It also appears that anything that the Democrats don’t like they want banned.

I also believe that for a firearm to have a bayonet lug, a pistol grip, or a flash hider doesn’t make a firearm any more lethal. Has anyone ever been assaulted by a drive by bayoneting? What makes a weapon lethal is the mentality of the person with their finger on the trigger.

It has been a year since that onerous excuse for a law passed, and I can’t recall one instance where a murder was committed in Wayne County.

I can’t say the same for the counties with large urban populations like Monroe and Onondaga.

The NYS NY-SAFE act in my opinion hasn’t stopped one instance of gun violence, or saved one life.
