JONESBORO, Arkansas — Jonesboro’s mayor wants his pistol returned.
Mayor Harold Perrin said Friday that his police-issued .357-caliber revolver was stolen from his city-owned SUV sometime between Monday and noon Thursday, when he noticed the firearm was missing.
The Jonesboro Sun reports (http://is.gd/wfK1Rx ) there was no sign of forced entry into the vehicle.
Perrin says he always locks the car and doesn’t know how the pistol was taken, though he said sometimes other city employees sometimes use his vehicle. The mayor says perhaps that’s how the vehicle was left unlocked. He doesn’t think a worker took the gun.
The mayor is the city’s top police official and thus is issued a weapon.
Perrin says he noticed the gun was gone Thursday when he opened his center console to get a pen.

I wonder if he left it in the car while he visited a “gun-free zone”?
