Last week, multiple police agencies worked together to track down Christopher Syracuse, 26, of the City of Tonawanda. NT police charged him with second-degree, third-degree and fifth-degree arson, as well as third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Charges are pending in the City of Tonawanda.
Cops say the firebug Syracuse torched nine buildings in North Tonawanda and the City of Tonawanda last Tuesday, the largest being at a nine-unit Goundry Street apartment building in NT reduced almost to rubble. The flames from the conflagration lit the night sky. Fortunately, no one was killed or injured.
Investigators believe that matches were used to start all of the fires. In less than three hours, police said, Syracuse lit seven fires, burned nine buildings and caused damage that could amount to more than $1 million.
Gun control advocates believe that the possession of firearms, a right granted to all American citizens under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, is responsible for the occasional killing sprees perpetrated by mentally unbalanced individuals in this country.
They want the possession of firearms, especially handguns, banned even from the most law abiding and God fearing folk.
Using the same argument, and using the Christian Syracuse case as the isolated example, an idiot could argue that the manufacture and possession of matches be banned as well.
We won’t try to make that argument, though.

The 2nd Amendment does NOT “grant” the right to bear arms. The right is a fundamental human civil right that preceded the development of government. The 2nd Amendment PROHIBITS any level of government from infringing upon it.
The 2nd Amendment PROTECTS the preexisting right from government infringement except when considered by corrupt judges who deserve to be hung.
