A victory for the Second Amendment, the business community, and most importantly, the individual. Now Chicagoans will be able to buy guns in their city, legally, like everybody else. The anti-gun segregation is over, let freedom ring!
A federal judge Monday struck down Chicago’s ban on handgun sales within the city.
The ordinance, passed by the city council in 2010, “goes too far in outright banning legal buyers and legal dealers from engaging in lawful acquisitions and lawful sales of firearm,” U.S. District Court Judge Edmond E. Chang wrote, the Chicago Sun-Timesreported.
The law outlawed gun shops and prohibited gun owners from taking firearms outside their homes.
Chang delayed the force of his ruling to give the city time to challenge it.
Four years ago the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Chicago’s ban on the possession of guns within city limits was unconstitutional.

“Chang said a fundamental duty of government is to protect its citizens. However, he said it’s also obligated to protect fundamental rights named in the Constitution, including the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense.”

As happy as I am with this victory, I fear what draconian regulations the enemy will come up with. Either way, it’s good to know Judge Chang is a pro-gun judge, even though I didn’t know the government had a duty to protect us, that goes against the Washington DC ruling were the victims of rape were told the cops don’t have a duty to protect them. Perhaps government and cops mean different things. But what matters is that he struck the ban AND defended the 2nd Amendment as a self-defense right. Wow, Bloomberg must be burning tonight.
