Progressives haven’t heard of Colion Noir or Clarence Thomas, because apparently if you want to vote in Alabama while open carrying a handgun, you must be a kluxer.
Jim Crow would be proud, Alabama ruling hobbles ban on guns in the open at polling places
The New York Times reports on the latest intimidation threat against people of colour in the South. Open carry permits at voting places? What could possibly go wrong with that?
VALLEY, Ala. — When Jimmy Allen walked into the polling station at the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department on June 3 to cast his ballot in Alabama’s primary election, he had no idea that the .40-caliberSmith & Wesson M&P Pro Series C.O.R.E. pistol strapped to his side — a weapon that fires 15 rounds from a single clip, plus the one already in the chamber — would raise eyebrows.
Mr. Allen votes religiously. No one had given his gun so much as a second glance before. But on this day, a polling official — his Aunt Rita, actually — took issue.
“She threw her hands in the air and said, ‘No guns allowed!’ ” Mr. Allen recalled last week. “I laughed, because I thought she was being funny.”
Aunt Rita was not. A sign outside the station entrance warned voters to leave their guns outside. “She’s my aunt, and I respect my elders,” Mr. Allen said. He put his pistol in his car, cast his vote and left.
But he did not go meekly. And because he did not, Alabamians who vote in Tuesday’s runoff election will be able to pack heat openly and with confidence in many of the state’s polling places.

Actually, Jim Crow would be ashamed. The first gun control laws in America were targeted at slaves and free blacks, then after reconstruction there was fear in the South about armed blacks. Martin Luther King Jr., himself was denied a concealed carry license by the Sheriff in Birmingham, Alabama.
Furthermore, an example of voter intimidation is the Black Panthers standing outside polling places, holding baseball bats, yelling insults at passerby. It is not voter intimidation to just wear a gun, enter a polling booth, close the curtain and vote.
Today our gun laws are color blind, too bad progressives aren’t. Too bad they insist on reliving the past.

Well the brits did list the Times as their source, so what else could one expect. They would be surprised to learn that in the Free State of Alabama we can exercise this and other rights without regard to race, religion, or social class unlike themselves and the subjects of New York.
But there is still hope for some of them, my neighbor transplanted from their shores and as a resident alien was able to get his permit. Guess who first took him shooting and to his first gun show.
You’re a patriot, D Peavy, taking immigrants to the gun range is one of the best things you can do for this country. The survival of the 2nd Amendment depends on creating new gun owners.
You’re completely right about New York as well, it’s hell to get a gun there (legally), John Stossel did a 15 minute clip about how it took him months to get his concealed carry permit, this guy had everything he needed, the death threats, the documentation, but he went through hell, and he’s a celebrity, imagine what’s like for the average Joe.
