Bill Maher calls us “ammosexuals”

Big shot Bill Maher has a beef with gun owners, the supporter of gay rights is not down with gun rights:

The thing about “gun culture,” Real Time host Bill Maher said on Friday, is that there’s not much actual culture — it’s really about the guns, and their owners’ unhealthy attachment to them.

“You guys aren’t just firearm enthusiasts,” Maher said. “You’re ammosexuals. And before you try and deny that you have some sort of unnatural romantic relationship with your gun, consider this: You’re taking it out to dinner. Because it completes you. Get a room.”

Maher advised gun ownership advocates to remember that having firearms didn’t give them a license to scare the rest of the population.

“Chill out, Josey Wales,” Maher said. “This isn’t the Wild West anymore. Clint Eastwood is directing Jersey Boys now.”

Our relationship with guns isn’t more romantic than fishermen with their poles or baseball card collectors with their baseball cards or tattoo enthusiasts with their ink. This is what a hoplophobe like Maher doesn’t get. Yes, the Open Carry movement features plenty of gun pride, that’s the point. We have a right to keep and bear arms, and we like to remind the rest of the population about it. Would you tell Rosa Parks to give up her seat for the white man? We’re fighting for our civil rights here, and if that scares people, I’m sure ending segregation scared plenty of people, but it had to be done.

As for the “Wild West,”  it wasn’t that wild, the shootout at the OK Corral only lasted 10-minutes and it wasn’t a daily occurance, and in spite of plenty of armed cowboys drinking whiskey, they were not shooting each other everday. Clint Eastwood is a great guy, but he did ACTION movies. It’s the same reason military movies feature infantry soldiers shooting people as opposed to army accountants pushing paper.

Groups like Open Carry Texas, Maher pointed out, had done what “thousands of progressive legislators” had failed to accomplish: get their guns banned from several restaurant chains following their public eatery excursions. To illustrate his point, Maher showed a picture of one of the group’s members brandishing what appeared to be an assault rifle while wearing his camouflage hat.

And yet the Home Depot admitted they respect the laws of each individual State and will be treating their customers in accordance to those laws. Here’s the truth, the anti-gun movement is terrified of open carriers, they’re scared because we’re a visible face of the 2nd Amendment, because we’re creating stories about guns that don’t involve shootings or anyone getting hurt. They hate us because we’re normalizing guns, making them more visible than ever before.

Today Bill laughs at us, tomorrow we laugh at him. There’s 100 million gun owners, if 5 million of us open carry, we’re a force to be reckoned with.

  1. Probably says more about Bill than it does about us. I’m betting he takes his drivers license with him to dinner (ie: a picture of himself) where he lets it press gently against his thigh for the night. Thats some sick masochism there. (My point is no more stupid than his, hence why I don’t watch Bill Maher)

    • They have this f-cked up idea that if you carry a gun it must be because you’re insecure about the size of your genitals and need to compensate for it. It’s the same BS they say about men who drive Porshes or those who become bodybuilders. The irony is that when danger comes, they’re the ones calling men with guns (cops) and screaming while we’re the ones fighting back.
