There’s been a lot of backlash against the Taurus Curve, which is why on November 19, 2014, BearingArms.com wrote “I’ll be stunned if the marketing of the Curve even stays in gun magazines. ”
Well, be stunned, Bearing Arms, because this ad was published on Guns & Ammo, March 2015 edition.
From an adman’s perspective, this ad is well-designed and well-organized, full of useful bullet points because we know most costumers hate reading long copy.
Yet can good advertising save the Curve? Can a great tagline like “The Gun You Wear” make you want to buy one? I don’t know. Call me a chauvinist, but I believe it’s WOMEN that have curves, so maybe the chicks can buy this, but a guy like me needs a masculine gun.
On the other hand, I do own this:
So maybe I should be the last person to criticize on the Curve for being a little feminine. In the end, the market will decide whether the Curve succeeds or fails, advertising can create curiosity, but it will never sell a bad product. Ask anyone who sells T-Shirts online, a crappy T-Shirt won’t be saved by a $500 Facebook campaign.
