Recent pro-gun events have not made much of a different in the Land of Lincoln.
“ILLINOIS (WFIE) -Illinois State Police are sorting through thousands of applications for concealed carry permits. In the meantime, local law enforcement, city officials and gun shop owners prepare for what’s next.
Police estimate the first permits should be issued by the middle of next month. That’s why there are No Guns Allowed signs already posted on city buildings, sheriff’s deputies getting ready to train and gun stores stocking up.Driving through Illinois you may notice those signs on buildings like Mt. Carmel City Hall telling the public guns are not welcome.
“It’s just a reminder,” said Rudy Witsman, Mt. Carmel’s City Clerk.
A reminder required by law. One some hope will keep them safe when those living in Illinois start to receive their concealed carry permits.
“You have to deal with some irate customers at times and you are sometimes, not often, but sometimes you can be a little concerned about well being,” Witsman said.

Yes, it’s a reminder that government-buildings are gun-free zones, ideal for mass shootings. It’s also a reminder that people like Witsman assume that gun owners shoot people when they get angry, and engage in no violence when they don’t have a gun.
I assure you that violence is a behavior, there’s plenty of YouTube videos of unarmed individuals striking other people. The “knockout Game” after all is about punching people, not shooting or stabbing them, and yes, some of the victims have died or suffered serious injuries.
Now to be fair, there are plenty of government buildings in other States that do have those hateful signs. I’m ashamed to say that here in Tennessee, government-buildings do display them, and some of our tourist-areas are gun-free zones.
Gun control is a Cancer that has spread across all 50 states, but just like segregation came to an end, someday the segregation of gun owners will also end. It’s just a question of keep pushing, keep asking why, keep suing, and keep fighting until every anti-gun law is defeated.
