Don’t try to to mess with this guy, he has a gun

All Hail the Great Equalizer!

DAYTON —The 90-year-old owner of an East Fifth Street laundromat scared off a would be robber on Monday evening, pulling a gun when the young man demanded cash from the register.

George Hicks said he wasn’t scared during the confrontation at the R & J Laundromat and will be ready if the robber ever comes back.

“Why get scared? I’ve got the gun and he’s running,” he said Tuesday. “It was just funny.” Hicks said he’s owned the laundromat for about 12 years.

According to a Dayton police report, a white male in a black hooded sweatshirt walked into the business at 2500 E. Fifth, at about 5 p.m. Monday and asked the nonagenarian to make change for a five dollar bill.

“He come in and he looked at the pop machine and he walked around and he asked me if I’d give him change,” Hicks said. “I pulled the door open again and that time he shoved me.”

According to the police report, the man saw the open cash drawer and said, “No, I want all your money.”

Hicks reached into his coat pocket, pulled out a handgun and told the male he wasn’t getting anything.

The young male fled without stealing any money.

“When I went for my gun he run out the door. He never got nothing,” Hicks said.

The confrontation was captured on surveillance video. Anyone with information about the suspect should call the Dayton Police Department at (937) 225-4357.

Another life saved by a gun, oh, I know what liberals will be thinking. “What’s the big deal about being robbed?” or “How do you know the robber was going to kill him?” I don’t know, but I do know that it’s better to be a survivor than a victim. Crime doesn’t need to be understood, it needs to be fought. Mr. Hicks did everything right, I hope that young man got a wake up call.
