1980s Gun Ad

1958 Colt Ad
I wonder if the cops would have been called if she had flashed a baseball bat? Frankly, I think it was an overreaction, even though I’m not the type of guy that flashes his guns.
A Missoula woman has been arrested after authorities said she brandished a gun at her downstairs neighbors, who were celebrating their twins’ birthday by playing video games.
The Missoulian reports ( http://bit.ly/1eog3gy) Debra Kay Knox appeared in court Monday on three counts of assault with a weapon.
Deputy County Attorney Jessica Finley said in an affidavit that police responded to a report of a woman in a nightgown knocking on a neighbor’s door with a gun.
The family inside, including three children, was playing a video game that involves jumping around.
A woman at the residence said the 55-year-old Knox said she worked for the FBI.
The affidavit says Knox told officers she went to quiet her neighbors and used the gun to get their attention.
She is being held on $10,000 bail.

So when can you threaten someone with a gun? I’m no lawyer, but I found this which applies to Texas:
Under Texas Penal Code Chapter 9 you can only threaten force when the use of force is justifiable. But by showing the weapon you threatened to use deadly force, but by law you did not use deadly force.
Sec. 9.04. THREATS AS JUSTIFIABLE FORCE. The threat of force is justified when the use of force is justified by this chapter. For purposes of this section, a threat to cause death or serious bodily injury by the production of a weapon or otherwise, as long as the actor’s purpose is limited to creating an apprehension that he will use deadly force if necessary, does not constitute the use of deadly force.

In other words, if your neighbors are driving you crazy, flashing your gun is not the thing to do.
Operation Fast and Furious is the gift that keeps on giving the ATF a headache.
A dramatic shootout between authorities and suspected cartel gunmen at a Mexican seaside resort this month has ties to a botched U.S. gun operation.
A U.S. official said Tuesday that investigators have traced at least one firearm recovered at a December 18 gunfight in Puerto Peñasco, just across from the Arizona border, to Operation Fast and Furious.
How dramatic was this shootout, CNN?
The shootout in Puerto Peñasco, also called Rocky Point by Arizona tourists, two weeks ago left at least five suspected cartel gunmen dead, including possibly a high level Sinaloa cartel chief, according to Mexican authorities.
Witnesses reported hours of shooting and grenade explosions, with Mexican authorities using helicopters to attack fleeing suspected cartel gunmen on the ground.

But don’t worry, our ATF has a very sophisticated tracking system, every time someone gets shot with one of their guns, they know where to find it, and since 1,400 guns are still missing, I guess 1,400 more Mexicans need to get shot.
Here’s an idea, ATF, next time focus on fighting real crimes instead of creating them. Forcing gun dealers to sell to Mexican gangsters they didn’t want to sell to in the first place is not the kind of government we deserve.
Gun victories in New York are rare, defeats are common, especially when you have anti-gun Judges like William Skretny of Buffallo who
“rejected arguments from opponents that its ban on large-capacity magazines and the sale of semi-automatic rifles infringed on Second Amendment rights….He ruled that the provisions were constitutional because the state has an “important governmental interest” in public safety in a suit brought by the New York affiliate of the National Rifle Association.”

Public safety? What the hell is that? It’s not like gun ownership is a communicable disease like Tuberculosis, it’s not like law-abiding gun owners can’t wait to shoot innocent people, his argument is ridiculous. You’re afraid of people with guns? Why don’t you ban cops from having them?
The Wall Street Journal reports:
“The law requires that by Jan. 15, all sellers of ammunition must register with the state police. Sellers holding a valid federal firearms license will be registered automatically, but other businesses must fill out a registration form.”
“Gun owners have until Jan. 15 to get rid of magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds or face a class A misdemeanor charge, with few exceptions. A person can dispose of a large capacity magazine by discarding it or by selling it to a licensed dealer or out-of-state purchaser. … Guns classified as ‘assault weapons’ must be registered with the state by April 15, 2014.”
I’m sure Bloomberg’s 17 bodyguards can’t wait to be in compliance of the law. Send the Statue of Liberty back to France, you freedom-haters!

Right now we don’t know if it was a crook trying to rob the gun store. If you know anything, leave a comment or fill the form.
