Mattel Tommy Burst Commercial (1960)

This is the kind of commercial that would horrify a liberal today.

Every kid growing up in the 1950s and 1960s played with toy guns, many of which looked like the real thing. The toy commercials of the era advertised these plastic replicas to millions of children with little or no ill effect,

How Gun Control Hurts People.

You did this, anti-gunners.

Gun Control Laws Disarmed Church Treasurer Mary Shepard She was trained and licensed to carry a gun in over 30 states, but not Illinois. It was a miracle that she and her 83-year old coworker survived the attack of an “unarmed” 6’4” 240lb felon.

As Ammoland reported:

Manassas, VA --(Ammoland.com)- We often hear gun control advocates say something like, “If it saves just one life, isn’t it worth it?”

Well of course it is – if it doesn’t cost many more in the process.

The reality is that gun control costs lives, while guns save lives.  That’s why cops carry them.

Let’s do a little reality check:

  • Crime – including violent crime, and “gun crime” – is not going up, it has been going down pretty consistently across the country for at least 20 years.
  • Mass Murders and Rampage Killings are not happening with more frequency, nor are such events resulting in more deaths. The number of such events and the average deaths resulting from them has remained relatively level for decades.
  • There has been no rise in firearm accidents or unintentional injuries – among adults or children. Firearm-related accidents, deaths, and injuries have been steadily declining for decades thanks to increased safety awareness initiatives from the firearms and hunting communities.
  • All of these reductions in “gun crime,” reductions in firearm accidents, and statistical stability in mass murder events have been achieved while the number of firearms in public hands has more than doubled, and the number of individuals with firearms has gone up dramatically. Also during this time, firearm quality, reliability, durability, and capacity have been going up, as have the number of people able to lawfully carry firearms for self-defense.

Minn. panel suggests more Capitol gun notification.

In this Aug 20, 2013 file photo, a Glock handgun is holstered on the side of Kristopher Kranz of Bloomington, Minn., as he listens to a legislative committee in St. Paul, Minn., during debate on whether Minnesota’s rules for carrying a gun in the State Capitol need revising, An advisory committee chaired by Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon met Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 to consider recommendations to the Legislature for improving Capitol security. (Jim Mone/AP Photo)

I didn’t know concealed carry holders were allowed to bring their guns into the Minnesota Capitol.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A state security panel backed the idea of more regular permit checks for gun owners who want to carry weapons in the State Capitol, but fell short of votes Tuesday on a proposal to ban guns altogether in certain state government buildings or areas.

Currently, permit holders only have to notify the state once that they might carry a firearm into the Capitol or any of 16 other buildings on the main state government campus in St. Paul.

The Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security is charged with recommending policy changes to the Legislature to shore up security procedures. Initially, the committee considered a yearly permit check, but ultimately opted Tuesday to recommend that be done once every five years.

….

Under the proposals, metal detectors would have to be installed to screen visitors at public Capitol entrances.

He also pointed out that Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton has publicly said he has no problem with law-abiding gun owners carrying their weapons at the Capitol. Prettner Solon’s support for more restrictive measures was a high-profile split with Dayton, who chose her as his running mate in 2010.

This is pretty awesome, nobody should be deprived of his 2nd Amendment rights, specially in a government building.
