Gun goes off at Walmart.

I hate it when it’s one of our own that gives liberals a good excuse to write against guns.

According to a press release from the Centerville Police Department late Monday morning, Strube said he was carrying a .45-caliber gun in his pants pocket. He stated that a bottle that he was carrying hit the handgun and caused it to fire one round.

The press release continues to say that Strube advised that after the gun went off he paid for his items and left the store.

Police say they found a bullet hole in a basket and several cans of beans after several employees and customers stated they heard a gunshot and smelled gun powder in the area inside of the store shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday. Officers also located a .45-caliber bullet in one of the cans of beans.

Strube does have a valid concealed weapon permit, police say.

Of course, this gives Tommy Christopher the perfect excuse to write incendiary comments like the following:

Strube’s story demonstrates how the right to bear arms intersects with the rights of others to be safe from harm in public. You’re only as safe as the most unsafe gun being carried around you

The gun wasn’t unsafe, Strube was unsafe. I don’t know how a bottle could have hit the gun or the trigger and fired it.Most holsters protect the trigger, so this was an anomaly. As for the right to be safe from harm in public? Show me where is that right stated in the Constitution or State law?

It’s also a great example of why the non-gun-toting public, who mostly understand the use of firearms for home protection, might feel less-than-comfortable mixing in public with armed-to-the-teeth strangers, even if they’re just posing for a picture while pointing their guns at each other.

Yeah well, maybe if liberals like you weren’t creating hysteria by promoting isolated incidents as common occurrences, the “non-gun-toting public” would be more open minded. As for those events were people are displaying their guns, NOTHING HAPPENED- nobody got shot, nobody got hurt.

I can find you stories of cops that have done stupid things with guns, such as shooting themselves, shooting the wrong person, leaving a loaded gun in a motorcycle that a kid finds and pulls the trigger. Yet do most people feel “less-than-comfortable” around cops? No. Why? Because cops with guns are seen everyday. Thus if more gun owners with visible guns were seen everyday, it would become part of the norm.

It’s just like interracial dating, tattoos, gay couples, smartphones, etc, the more you see it, the more normal it becomes.
