Advertising guns to women makes sense, which is why the Armory in North Jackson (Ohio) did this billboard.
“I think the ad makes women know that it is not an unnatural feeling to want to protect themselves and want to get into the sporting and shooting industry,” said Ed Orr, NRA instructor.
It takes the average women two or three times looking at a weapon before they buy one. Armory representative Randy McCoon said the most important part is fitting them with the right one.
The billboard has been effective, “Over 80 percent of people who show up to the Armory” say they’ve seen them.
My only disagreement with the article is this:
The Armory has a large selection of guns. Colored guns, including pink, are popular with women as much as a black gun is with a man.
Are gun stores selling pink guns because they think women want them or because they sell well? I’ve heard of many women who are happy with black guns. But then again, sometimes women value aesthetics a lot more than men. After all, when was the last time your drinking buddies wondered what to wear or asked you, “does this make me look fat?”
If you live in the area, you can find The Armory at 12800 Leonard Pkwy. North Jackson, Ohio 44451
There’s also The Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club, which is hosting a Ladies Night at the range.
