You may be old and gray, but with a gun you’re as tough as any young thug:
Burglar enters home, homeowner, 88, grabs gun
CORPUS CHRISTI – A burglar kicked in the back door of an 88-year-old man’s home Wednesday evening, so the man grabbed his handgun and scared the burglar who took off running, police said.
The homeowner called police, and the burglar ran to a house next door in the 4300 block of Carlton Street about 5:30 p.m. He locked himself inside a back bedroom, police said.
That homeowner, 30, locked his four children inside another bedroom when they saw the burglar break in through the front door. Later police officers forced their way into the bedroom where the burglar hid beside the bed, police said in a news release.
Officers arrested Robert Rodriguez, 27, on suspicion of two counts of burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony. He was in Nueces County Jail on Thursday with bail totaling $80,000. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said.
Always respect your elders, and that goes double for gun-packing elders.
